Their gracefulness and their ability to perch on a branch much smaller and lighter to preen and clean their feathers amaze me.   They might be large birds but they are capable of staying in the air for up to 24 hours and their most important prey is fish.  It saddens me to see signs along the River Torrens warning people that the water is toxic.  The amount of rubbish is astonishing.  I am surprised that these Pelicans (and other animals) have survived and decided to make the river Torrens their home.   I often wonder if the number of Pelicans living in Adelaide has declined in the past 5 years.","","","River Torrens near Uni Bridge.
